Iran Warns of Consequences if U.S. Launches New Attacks

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said Tuesday that Israel sent anti-missile batteries and personnel to the UAE to help protect the country from Iranian attacks. The deployment highlights a growing defense relationship between Israel and the UAE that has been strengthened during the conflict.
An Iranian lawmaker said Monday that Iran could review enriching uranium to 90 percent purity if attacked again. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for Iran's National Security Commission, posted on X that parliament would consider the option. As of June 2025 Iran was believed to have about 970 pounds of uranium enriched to 60 percent according to the World Nuclear Association.
That level is a short technological step from weapons-grade material. The Center for Strategic and International Studies has estimated that quantity could theoretically support approximately 10 nuclear weapons. Iran began enriching uranium to 60 percent after the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal during President Trump's first term.
The deal had limited enrichment levels and placed the program under monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Pentagon comptroller Jules Hurst testified Tuesday that the U.S. has spent $29 billion on the Iran war. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had previously reported a cost of $25 billion last month. Hegseth told a congressional hearing the ceasefire with Iran "is in effect" despite the dynamic situation.
He said negotiations continue and a settlement that prevents Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities remains possible. Hegseth added that the Department of Defense maintains sufficient munitions and is prepared to act if required. Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen.
Dan Caine stated the U.S. has sufficient munitions for current tasks while noting he would always want more. The brief Project Freedom operation that escorted commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz has been paused but could resume.
Kuwaiti authorities arrested four alleged Iran-linked infiltrators who attempted to enter the country by sea. The suspects confessed to affiliation with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and admitted attempting hostile acts on Bubiyan Island according to Kuwait's defense ministry.
Two other suspects escaped after clashes. Iran's ambassador to China said ties with Beijing provide "strategic diplomatic depth" ahead of President Trump's summit with Xi Jinping. Ambassador Abdulreza Rahmani Fazli told state news agency IRNA that China could echo Iran's calls for a permanent cessation of hostilities, lifting of the U.S. blockade and respect for its rights.
A supertanker carrying Iraqi crude oil turned back off the Omani coast after transiting the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Iran.
