Kuwait's defence ministry spokesman called the attack "criminal Iranian aggression." The foreign ministry said diplomatic missions had been damaged and ordered two Iranian diplomats to leave the country within 24 hours.
Retaliation claims Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps denied responsibility for the airport strike and said damage resulted from a U.S. missile interceptor error. " The IRGC said it had targeted U.S. bases in the Gulf in retaliation for earlier U.S. strikes on an Iranian oil tanker and Qeshm Island.
Centcom said the U.S. strikes were launched in self-defence after Iran attempted attacks across the region.
Ceasefire context The strikes occurred as ceasefire talks between the U.S. and Iran stalled over the weekend. President Trump told the Pod Force One podcast that Iran had "already agreed" not to have a nuclear weapon and that he would like to meet Iran's supreme leader.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Congress that any sanctions relief would be condition-based and tied to Iran's nuclear programme. The person killed was later identified as an Indian citizen. India's foreign ministry condemned the attack and said several other Indian nationals were injured.
