The Iranian navy said 32 ships, including oil tankers and container vessels, passed through the Strait of Hormuz in a 24-hour period after obtaining permission coordinated with the IRGC Navy. A report from the semiofficial Tasnim News Agency stated that the IRGC navy provided security coordination for the vessels.

Iranian authorities have kept the critical waterway closed to general maritime traffic and have been reviewing individual requests for passage.

Roughly one-fifth of global oil supplies and a substantial share of liquefied natural gas normally move through the strait. Recent discussions between the United States and Iran have reportedly included reopening shipping lanes as part of a possible arrangement.

A U.S. president posted on a social media platform that leaders of several countries should sign the Abraham Accords to normalise relations with Israel after any agreement with Iran. The post listed Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkiye, Egypt and Jordan as countries that should participate.

The same post described the Abraham Accords as having produced financial and economic benefits for current signatories even during periods of regional conflict.
