Iranian President Criticizes International Response to Regional Attacks

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the international community failed to stop attacks on multiple countries and reduce instability across the Middle East. Pezeshkian spoke at an event marking the funeral of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He said Iran's new leadership carries responsibility to strengthen Islamic unity and expand solidarity among Muslim states.

Fattah el-Sisi called for urgent implementation of the Gaza ceasefire signed in Sharm el-Sheikh last October and the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding signed last month in Switzerland. El-Sisi said attempts to undermine either agreement must be prevented. El-Sisi also said Egypt lost more than $10 billion in Suez Canal revenue due to attacks on vessels in the Bab al-Mandeb strait.

Israeli drone strikes killed two people in Gaza on the evening of the report, according to the Wafa news agency. One strike hit near the Asqoula junction in Gaza City; another hit near the Abu Sharikh roundabout in the Jabalia refugee camp. Israeli attacks also struck the towns of al-Mansouri and Tallousah in southern Lebanon.

The strikes occurred despite a framework agreement signed last month by Israel, Lebanon, and the U.S. intended to support the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

Turkish officials said peace efforts require regional backing and that Israel must not be allowed to undermine the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding. They added that no lasting solution can succeed without contributions from regional countries. Lebanon's Minister of Social Affairs, Haneen Sayed, said approximately 400,000 displaced people have returned to southern Lebanon.
