Iranian President Says U.S. Broke MoU Commitments After Talks Exceeded Expectations

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the U.S. violated its commitments in a Memorandum of Understanding after Tehran’s achievements in the talks exceeded expectations. Speaking at the National Industry and Mining Day ceremony, Pezeshkian said Iran moved forward step by step in the negotiations.

He added that Iran’s main position was to open the Strait of Hormuz for oil exports and other vital issues, but the other side violated the deal. “The achievements of the Islamic Republic in this direction far exceeded expectations, and we were able to manage various issues well in a short time,” Pezeshkian said.

Momeni met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. The meeting was the second during Momeni’s visit that started earlier in the day. Momeni also met with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the army chief of staff, according to the IRNA news agency.

He was scheduled to meet with Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. The visit comes as Pakistan has intensified diplomatic efforts to resuscitate the MoU between the U.S. and Iran.

Ministry condemned Iranian attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan as a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the three countries. The ministry reiterated the UAE’s full solidarity with the three countries and support for measures aimed at safeguarding their security.

Iran retaliated to American attacks by striking U.S. military assets in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said massive fires broke out on two tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
