Ireland defeated West Indies by six wickets in a Group 1 match at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup on 27 June 2026. The result ended Ireland's streak of 21 consecutive losses across five editions of the tournament. West Indies scored 128 for seven wickets in 20 overs. Spinner Cara Murray took two wickets for 13 runs, including the dismissal of Hayley Matthews for 22.
Ireland reached the target of 129 with 11 balls remaining. Orla Prendergast scored 63 from 44 deliveries before being dismissed in the 16th over. Rebecca Stokell remained unbeaten on 16 to complete the chase. Captain Gaby Lewis was dismissed early, but Amy Hunter and Prendergast added 62 runs for the second wicket.
Hunter finished with 28 after being dropped on three. West Indies' top-order batters Hayley Matthews, Stafanie Taylor, and Deandra Dottin each posted strike rates below 100. Chinelle Henry remained not out on 27.
The loss leaves West Indies' semi-final qualification dependent on other results. They hold a superior net run-rate to Sri Lanka and advance if New Zealand loses to England later on 27 June. Ireland finished outside the top four in the group and will enter qualifying rounds for the 2028 tournament alongside Scotland.
