Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced Thursday morning that it carried out a drone and missile attack on a U.S. airbase in Kuwait. The IRGC said the strike was retaliation for U.S. airstrikes conducted the night before against a drone launch site near Bandar Abbas.

In a statement carried by state media, the IRGC said the attack served as a warning that aggression will not go unanswered. The statement added that any repeat of the aggression would bring a more decisive response and that the aggressor bears full responsibility for the consequences.

A U.S. official said American forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones and then struck an Iranian ground control station in Bandar Abbas. The official described the U.S. action as measured, purely defensive, and intended to maintain the ceasefire. This marks the second time in three days that the U.S. has conducted self-defense strikes against Iranian military targets in southern Iran.

Monday the U.S. carried out airstrikes against Iranian missile locations and boats that U.S. Central Command said were preparing to launch mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The Kuwaiti Army posted on X that its air defenses were responding to hostile missile and drone threats.
