IRGC vessels divert six ships from Omani route in Strait of Hormuz

Regional shipping context Analyst Alexandru Hudisteanu said Iran is attempting to assert itself as the main overseer of traffic through the strait. He noted that the region and the wider world want free flow of trade but that the outcome remains to be seen. Hudisteanu added that Iran may seek to use any perceived control as a legal argument after current hostilities end.

Broader statements from Iranian officials Professor Mostafa Khoshcheshm said Iranians expect hostile actions against the country to continue regardless of any agreements. He cited hybrid warfare, sanctions, cyberattacks, and possible military actions as ongoing concerns.
