Isaac Del Toro Wins Tour de France Stage 2 Ahead of Pogacar
Mexican rider Isaac Del Toro took the second stage of the 113th Tour de France on July 5. He finished the 169 km route from Tarragona to Montjuic in Barcelona first, with Tadej Pogacar second and Remco Evenepoel third.

Isaac Del Toro won the second stage of the Tour de France on July 5, 2026, finishing ahead of Tadej Pogacar on the climb to Montjuic in Barcelona. The 22-year-old Mexican rider, making his Tour debut after finishing second at the Giro d'Italia in 2025, led home his UAE team leader Pogacar on the short steep finish. Jonas Vingegaard placed fourth on the stage and retained the overall lead.
Pogacar moved to second overall, six seconds behind Vingegaard. Evenepoel sits third at 15 seconds back, while Del Toro rose to fourth at 16 seconds. Spaniard Juan Ayuso is fifth at 19 seconds and Paul Seixas sixth at 42 seconds.
Del Toro said the victory meant everything. "I cannot believe what I just did," he added. Pogacar waved a Mexican flag while cooling down after the stage. A three-man breakaway built an early lead of nearly four minutes before being caught on the approach to Barcelona.
Del Toro and Seixas both overcame mechanical issues during the stage but rejoined the main group in time for the decisive circuits.
