Islamabad Nuclear Talks End First Round Without Agreement as Iran Links Progress to Lebanon
Initial round of discussions in Pakistan's capital produced no result after Iran declined to address nuclear issues. Negotiators said talks continue and no final decision has been reached.
The first phase of talks in Islamabad concluded without agreement after Iran declined to enter nuclear negotiations. A member of the media team attached to Tehran's negotiating delegation told Iran's Fars News that the refusal to discuss nuclear issues was the direct reason the opening round produced no result.
The same official stated that discussions between the parties remain active and that negotiators have not reached any final decision.
Iran will not sign any agreement that leaves Lebanon out of the process, the media-team member stated. The condition was presented as a firm requirement for any future accord. The statements were issued through Fars News, which attributed them to the Tehran negotiating team's media contact.
No other details on the timing or location of further sessions were provided.
