An array of mobile stations placed around a defended area makes up the Hypnosis air defense system that Israel Aerospace Industries unveiled this weekend, Defense News reported. The system jams and spoofs satellite navigation signals that guide aerial threats. The stations work in unison to disrupt the command-and-control signals of incoming threats, according to the manufacturer.
The company described Hypnosis as the product of its experience in navigation warfare, known as NAVWAR. It is intended as a soft-kill method for taking out large numbers of drones at once. Tzally Greenberg, the Israel correspondent for Defense News, covered the announcement.
