Israel Police Arrest Yossi Musli in Wave of Grenade Attacks

Israel Police arrested Yossi Musli at his home on July 14. Detectives from the Tel Aviv District’s Major Crimes Unit carried out the detention as part of an investigation into a series of grenade attacks, arson, and shootings that struck central and northern Israel in recent days. The Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court extended Musli’s detention by five days on July 16.

Judge Sheli Kotin presided and found grounds for custody based on suspicion of involvement, dangerousness, and obstruction of justice. Kotin ruled that the investigation materials supported the current stage and the first extension. She stated that without concrete evidence and further steps, there would be no basis to extend the detention again.

Musli told the court that three detectives visited his home several days before the arrest and took him for questioning. He said officers warned him they had information he was “organizing with grenades” and instructed him to “take four days and calm the area” or face aggressive measures, including administrative orders. Musli denied any connection to the attacks.

His lawyer, Doron Noy, argued that police should have taken operational steps if they possessed prior information about grenade use. Noy noted that two additional incidents occurred in Haifa and Rosh Pina while Musli was in custody. The attacks are linked to an escalation in the feud between the Musli and Jarushi crime families.

About nine Japanika branches and other targets were hit in recent days. Japanika chain owner Barak Abramov told investigators he has no feud with anyone and does not understand the attacks on his businesses. In recent months Abramov sold 20 percent of the Landora group to Leumi Partners for about NIS 200 million.
