Israel Police plans to deploy drones to support crime-prevention efforts in southern Israel. The decision follows a trial conducted near Rahat that police sources described as successful.
According to police sources, the aircraft can take off and land vertically, remain airborne for several hours, and cover tens of kilometers in a single flight. The same sources said the drones are fitted with day and night surveillance equipment.
Police have not released a specific start date for the wider rollout. The announcement was made on May 21, 2026.
