Israel Releases Nine Palestinian Detainees from Gaza

Israeli authorities released nine Palestinian detainees from Gaza on July 5. The International Committee of the Red Cross facilitated the transfer of the detainees to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, where medical teams examined their conditions. Israel’s military Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir addressed troops near Beaufort Castle in occupied southern Lebanon.

Zamir said Hezbollah had built underground tunnels in the area for decades with Iranian funding and direction. He stated that Israeli forces now control key areas above ground and the routes underground. Zamir added that the Lebanese army must fulfill its commitment to the historic agreement and cleanse the area of Hezbollah fighters.

He said the military would continue to remove threats from Lebanese territory and is prepared to move to a rapid attack if the ceasefire is violated. Israeli forces carried out daily violations of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, including drone flights, shelling and demolitions. Israeli drones flew over central Beirut, its southern suburbs, the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon.

Civilian areas in Deir Siryan and Mansouri faced intermittent shelling, while towns under Israeli occupation saw home demolitions and destruction of public infrastructure. A maritime cargo route between Iran’s Dayyer port and Qatar’s Al-Ruwais port resumed operations after a five-month suspension caused by the US-Israeli war.

Abbas Abdolkhani, Iran’s commercial attaché in Doha, said shipping resumed following coordination between the Iranian embassy in Doha and Qatari authorities.

Khamenei’s sons Masoud, Meysam and Mostafa attended a prayer ceremony in Tehran. His son Mojtaba did not attend. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief Ahmad Vahidi appeared in public for the first time since the US-Israeli attack in February.
