An Israeli air strike struck a police post in the at-Twam area of northern Gaza on Saturday, killing five police officers and a 13-year-old boy, Gaza police said. Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud reported from Gaza City that the officers were killed at the scene.

Sources at al-Shifa Hospital stated that at least one civilian on a nearby street was also killed and at least 10 others were wounded.

Mahmoud stated the incident fits a pattern of targeting police and local security personnel that predates the current ceasefire. S. President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza.

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that eight bodies and 29 wounded people arrived at hospitals across Gaza in the past 48 hours. Israel’s military operations in Gaza since October 2023 have killed at least 72,775 Palestinians, with 883 deaths recorded since the October 10, 2025 ceasefire.

Mahmoud said the strikes on police further complicate aid distribution and increase risks of hijacking and looting amid severe restrictions on humanitarian supplies. UNRWA reported a rise in skin infections among Palestinian children in Gaza linked to pests, noting that health teams can treat about 40 percent of cases and that basic medicines remain in short supply.
