Israeli strike kills two in southern Gaza tent shelter

An Israeli strike hit a tent sheltering displaced people in al-Mawasi near southern Khan Younis, killing two Palestinians. Medical sources at Nasser Hospital and al-Hilal Hospital said four Palestinians were killed and 16 wounded when an Israeli drone attacked a vehicle on the al-Rashid coastal road in the same area.

Regional developments Israel's defence minister stated that the country assassinated Iran's late supreme leader Ali Khamenei for allegedly leading a plan to destroy Israel and threatened to eliminate any Iranian leader who promotes such actions. The minister added that Israel remains prepared to defend itself against any threat and said Khamenei's son and successor, Mojtaba, was marked for death.

Iran's foreign minister said any threat against Iranian people and leadership will receive an immediate, powerful response.

Mourning and statements State media reported that millions of mourners attended the funeral procession for Khamenei in Tehran. Iran's army chief said those who committed the assassination must know that the nation of Iran will never cease its pursuit of justice.

Iran's parliament speaker said implementation of a recently signed memorandum of understanding with the United States is difficult but possible and that Iran will continue supporting groups in the axis of resistance.
