Israeli air strikes killed at least 17 people across southern Lebanon on Wednesday, with nine deaths reported in Tayr Debba alone. Hezbollah said it fired rockets at Israeli troops in response, while the UN dispatched investigators to examine possible violations by all sides.

Nine of the deaths occurred during multiple strikes on the town of Tayr Debba east of Tyre. Two people died when an Israeli drone struck a car in the center of Sidon, according to the National News Agency.
Three others were killed in Deir Qanoun el-Nahr and two more in Seddiqin, while one person died in Tyre's Massaken al-Shaabiya district.
Hezbollah said its fighters targeted Israeli troops and vehicles in the Bayada and Yohmor areas with rockets and artillery. The Israeli military issued no immediate comment on the latest strikes but had previously said it hit six Hezbollah sites in Tyre and launchers elsewhere on Tuesday.
The strikes came after Israel rejected an Iranian warning against continuing operations in Lebanon. Iran stated it would resume hostilities if attacks on Lebanon persisted, while Israel said it would not accept a new equation and would continue targeting Hezbollah.
UN human rights chief Volker Türk announced he is sending investigators to Lebanon at the Lebanese government's request. The team will examine possible violations by all sides since early March and report findings by the end of July. Lebanon's health ministry has recorded at least 3,696 deaths in the country since the conflict began on 2 March.
