Israeli and UN Officials Clash at Hearing on Sexual Violence in Conflict

Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, demanded the resignation of Pramila Patten at a June 19 public hearing in New York marking the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict. Danon accused Patten of bias in a report she issued last month that blacklisted Israel for alleged abuses for the first time.

And you will be quiet now. You will be quiet ... you and your shameful report," he said. Frazier issued a separate report this week warning that Israeli settler groups could be added to a global blacklist for violations against children.
Guterres voiced alarm at a "staggering" rise in violations against Palestinian children. Israel already features in the annexes of Frazier's report for alleged violations. Patten's report and Frazier's report both blacklist Hamas.
When Patten's report was issued last month, Danon called it "a new low" and Israel's foreign ministry vowed to sever all ties with Guterres. Guterres leaves office after 10 years at the year-end.
