Italy Cancels Kanye West and Travis Scott Concerts at Reggio Emilia Arena Citing Public Safety

Italian authorities have banned a Kanye West concert scheduled for July 18 at the RCF Arena in Reggio Emilia and cancelled a Travis Scott concert set for the previous day at the same venue. Prefect Salvatore Angieri ordered the prohibition after a public safety committee meeting on May 25. The decision was issued under Article 2 of Italy’s consolidated public security law.

The government statement said the ban addressed “public order and safety issues” linked to West’s appearance and the consecutive scheduling of the two events at a venue with a capacity of approximately 103,000 spectators. ” The Jewish Community of Modena and Reggio and consumer advocacy group Codacons submitted formal requests opposing the concerts.

West, 48, who changed his name to Ye in 2021, was due to perform at the Pulse of Gaia festival.

Scott’s show was cancelled because the two festivals were scheduled on consecutive days. In 2021, ten people aged between nine and 27 died at Scott’s Astroworld festival in Houston after fans surged toward the stage. West performed at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium on May 31, drawing a reported crowd of 118,000.

He is still scheduled to perform at the GelreDome football stadium in Arnhem, the Netherlands, on June 6 and 8. West’s show in Marseille was postponed in April after he was denied a UK visa. That led to the cancellation of his headline appearances at London’s Wireless festival.

West released a song called Heil Hitler in 2025 and previously advertised a swastika T-shirt for sale on his website. ” He wrote: “I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. ” West has had three number one singles and three number one albums in the UK.

Scott has had five UK top 10 singles and one number one album with Utopia.
