Italy June Harmonised CPI Rises 3.1 Percent Year Over Year

Italy's consumer price index rose less than anticipated in June, according to preliminary data. The harmonised index increased 3.1 percent year over year, below the 3.2 percent consensus estimate and unchanged from the prior reading. On a month-over-month basis the index advanced 0.1 percent, missing the expected 0.2 percent gain and following a 0.3 percent increase in May.
The national CPI index including tobacco posted a 3.0 percent year-over-year rise, also below the 3.2 percent forecast. That measure was flat on the month after a 0.4 percent gain previously.
