A report published by the JAMA Network found that ivermectin prescriptions for cancer patients doubled between January and July 2025. Researchers also recorded a 2.5-fold increase compared with the same period in 2024. The study, titled Ivermectin-Benzimidazole Prescribing Following Celebrity Endorsement, examined prescribing data across multiple U.S. regions.

He stated that three of his friends had survived cancer after taking ivermectin and benzimidazole. The episode and related clips reached more than 60 million viewers across platforms, the study said.
Study findings and medical context The report stated that individuals facing life-threatening illness may delay or forgo conventional treatments in favor of unproven therapies. Ivermectin is approved only for parasitic infections. MacMillan Cancer Support chief medical officer Richard Simcock said there is currently zero real-world clinical evidence that ivermectin might be helpful in the treatment of cancer.
He noted that lab studies showing effects on cancer cells used the drug alongside conventional treatments. Ivermectin prescriptions rose for patients overall, with the steepest increases recorded among those diagnosed with cancer.
