Ivonescimab reduced the risk of death by 34 percent compared with a standard treatment in patients with squamous non-small cell lung cancer, according to trial data presented Sunday. The study was conducted entirely in China by Akeso Therapeutics. The drug combines the activity of two of the best-selling cancer medicines.

It is being developed outside China by Summit Therapeutics. Results were presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in Chicago and published simultaneously in The Lancet. ” Akeso had no comment for this story.
