Jacob Trouba signed a four-year contract with the San Jose Sharks worth $8.25 million annually on Wednesday, ESPN reported. The 32-year-old defenseman joined after playing the majority of the last two seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, where he recorded 10 goals and 35 points in 2025-26 and posted a 46.15 GF%.
Trouba previously served as captain of the New York Rangers and completed a seven-year contract with an $8 million average annual value.
He stated that term and security mean a lot to him and his family and expressed gratitude that San Jose is where the deal ended up. The Sharks missed the 2025-26 postseason by four points. They acquired Michael Kesselring in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres last week and signed him to a three-year contract worth $4.5 million annually.
San Jose now has Sam Dickinson, Dmitry Orlov, Kesselring and Trouba under contract, while Shakir Mukhamadullin remains a restricted free agent under team control. PuckPedia projects the Sharks have more than $31.165 million in cap space.
