James, Earl of Wessex, appeared at Royal Ascot on day four alongside his mother, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. The 18-year-old wore traditional morning dress with a black coat, top hat and blue patterned tie. Photographers captured the pair sharing moments in the Royal Box.

Sophie, 61, wore an elegant blue dress with silver and white rectangular patterns and a coordinating hat. The Duchess's outfit complemented her son's choice of tie. GB News reported the appearance marked the Earl's first public engagement since the royal Easter Sunday service at St George's Chapel.

James also attended Peter and Harriet's wedding at All Saints' Church in the Cotswolds earlier this month. He is currently completing his A-levels at Radley College. His plans following his studies remain undisclosed.

The previous day, Sophie's father, Christopher Rhys-Jones, joined his daughter and Prince Edward at the event. Christopher, who celebrates his 95th birthday on 19 June 2026, received an early celebration at the races.

King Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla, 78, participated in a traditional carriage procession at Royal Ascot on Friday. The King and Queen attended for the fourth consecutive day. Their horse, Warrant Holder, finished second in its race.
