Jannik Sinner Defeats Novak Djokovic 6-4 6-4 6-4 in Wimbledon Semifinal

Jannik Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the Wimbledon men's singles semifinal on July 10. The match was played on Centre Court under breezy and partly cloudy conditions with temperatures reaching about 85 degrees Fahrenheit in southwest London.

Djokovic, 39 and a 24-time major champion, entered the semifinal after a five-hour, 15-minute quarterfinal victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime on July 7.

Sinner saved his only break point of the match with an ace early in the third set. This marked only the third completed major match in Djokovic's career in which he failed to break serve, with two of those instances coming against Sinner. Sinner has now won 17 consecutive sets at Wimbledon after trailing two sets to one in his opening match against Miomir Kecmanovic.

"I knew mentally that today I had to raise my level, which I've done," Sinner said after the match. He added that he tried to make adjustments, stay aggressive, and serve well despite the challenges on grass. Alexander Zverev defeated Arthur Fery in straight sets in the other semifinal.

Forbes reported that Sinner leads Zverev in their head-to-head record 10-4 and has won the past nine encounters since the 2024 Cincinnati tournament. Sinner is seeking his 100th major match win in the final scheduled for July 12. Sinner is one of only three players, alongside Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, to defeat Djokovic three times in straight sets at major tournaments, excluding retirements.

Djokovic has been eliminated at Wimbledon by either Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz each of the past four years.
