Japan Lower House Members' Average Assets Reach ¥32.78 Million
A Jiji Press tally reported by The Japan Times showed the 465 lawmakers elected in February held average assets of ¥32.78 million. The figure increased ¥6.09 million from the prior disclosure. Twenty-seven members reported holdings above ¥100 million while 83 listed none.

The 465 members of Japan's House of Representatives who won seats in February's general election held average assets of ¥32.78 million as of Feb. 8, when their terms began, a Jiji Press tally reported Tuesday by The Japan Times. The total rose ¥6.09 million from the previous average disclosed in April 2025.
Real estate accounted for an average of ¥22.38 million per member and financial assets for ¥10.4 million. Ichiro Aisawa of the Liberal Democratic Party held the highest assets at ¥790.44 million, with real estate making up ¥702. He also reported roughly 2.77 million shares in two stocks.
Hirohisa Takagi of the LDP ranked second with ¥789.09 million. Former Prime Minister Taro Aso of the LDP placed third at ¥601.53 million. Twenty-seven members reported assets above ¥100 million. Eighty-three members listed zero assets.
Male lawmakers averaged ¥36.09 million while female lawmakers averaged ¥13.48 million. The LDP recorded the highest party average at ¥40.54 million. The Democratic Party for the People followed at ¥23.78 million, the Japan Innovation Party at ¥16.01 million, the LDP's coalition partner at ¥15.96 million, Sanseito at ¥14.45 million, Team Mirai at ¥8.31 million and the Japanese Communist Party at ¥7.61 million.
The sole Reiwa Shinsengumi member held ¥7.01 million.
