Jared Young to Undergo Surgery for Meniscus Tear, Out Six to Eight Weeks

Jared Young was placed on the injured list with a meniscus tear in his left knee on Wednesday and will undergo surgery for the injury. The procedure is scheduled for Thursday, and Young is expected to miss six to eight weeks due to the injury, according to Carlos Mendoza. 450 slash line in 23 plate appearances.

In his absence, MJ Melendez has been called up from Triple-A Syracuse and started at designated hitter in the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. The Mets are currently experiencing a seven-game losing streak, having scored only 10 runs during this stretch. 258 slash line as play began Wednesday, with opponents outscoring them 36-10 during this period.
