Jerusalem Holds Annual Pride and Tolerance March With Political Theme 'Demanding Change'

Jerusalem’s Pride and Tolerance march took place on Thursday and followed a route that ended at Israel’s parliament. The theme chosen for this year’s event was “Demanding change,” giving the procession an explicit political focus. June is gay pride month.

Organizers scheduled the march during that period, as they have in prior years. Attendees noted that LGBT people hold more civil rights in Israel than in many other countries in the Middle East. They also stated that further legal and social progress remains necessary.

The march proceeded without reported incidents and concluded at the parliament building after passing through central Jerusalem streets.
