The 38-year-old singer, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, posted the update in an Instagram reel on May 21. The post included footage from a recent yearly check-up MRI. In the caption she wrote that she "sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year."
J was diagnosed with early breast cancer in June 2025 while promoting her album Don't Tease Me With A Good Time. She underwent surgery later that month and received results in July 2025 indicating the cancer had not spread. She said at the time that she still had "lots of healing to go" and needed another surgery.
J continued performing during treatment.
At a January 28 concert in New York City she told audience members dealing with cancer that a positive mindset "helps" the body. She also released the music video for her November 2025 single "COMES IN WAVES" last month.
