Finman’s son David, portrayed by Alessandro Nivola. Dianne is an actress who has not worked in ten years and is independently wealthy. The story moves between an upper-class Brooklyn neighborhood and Martha’s Vineyard as Sam and Dianne form an emotional connection.
Supporting cast members include Zosia Mamet, Andrea Martin, Holland Taylor, and Bob Balaban. The film won the Audience Award and the Special Jury Award for Performance for Amanda Peet at the SXSW Film & TV Festival, as well as the Best Ensemble Cast award at the San Diego International Film Festival.
Fantasy Life is the debut feature of Matthew Shear, who previously appeared in films directed by Noah Baumbach.
