France 24 reported that Mali's military junta is facing coordinated attacks by the jihadist group JNIM and its Tuareg ally, the FLA, targeting army positions across northern Mali. The armed groups captured the northern city of Kidal in May and have overrun military positions in Gao, the report stated. Russian fighters are supporting the Malian armed forces amid the offensive.
