Jing Yan Shoots 66 to Lead Meijer LPGA Classic After Two Rounds

Jing Yan shot a 6-under 66 on Friday to take the second-round lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan. Yan played a bogey-free round in breezy conditions and reached 10 under par after two rounds. The 30-year-old American, who remains winless on the LPGA Tour, said after the round that she struck the ball well over the last two days and putted well enough to produce birdies.

Lottie Woad of England and Cassie Porter of Australia stood one stroke behind at 9 under par. Woad also shot 66, while Porter posted a 68. Woad said the conditions remained challenging and that the pin placements required smart play.

First-round leader Yan Liu of China fell to 8 under par after a second-round 70. Minji Kang of South Korea also reached 8 under with a 68. Brooke Henderson of Canada moved to 5 under par after rounds of 73 and 66.

Defending champion Carlota Ciganda of Spain stood at 3 under after a 69. Second-ranked Jeeno Thitikul missed the cut after rounds of 74 and 70. U.S. Women's Open where she tied for sixth, also missed the cut with scores of 72 and 73. The Meijer LPGA Classic is the final event before the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, which begins next week at Hazeltine.
