Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje led Team USA to the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup title with a 107-81 victory over Serbia in the final on July 5 at the BDC Main Venue in Istanbul, Turkey, Forbes reported. The 6-foot-11 forward finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks. Boumtje Boumtje was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
He averaged 19.6 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 22.8 minutes per game while shooting 59.8 percent from the field, Forbes reported. Team USA finished 7-0 and won its games by an average of 48.9 points, improving its all-time record in the event to 58-0. Boumtje Boumtje, who turned 17 on May 30, committed to Duke in late April.
He played the past three seasons for FC Barcelona’s U22 team in Spain, where he averaged 16.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season, Forbes reported. In May he led FC Barcelona’s U18 team to the adidas NextGen EuroLeague title and was named MVP of that event.
Beckham Black averaged 12.3 points, 8.3 assists and three steals per game for Team USA and was named to the All-Star Five, Forbes reported.
CJ Rosser averaged 16.4 points per game, Jordan Page averaged 9.8 points per game and Erick Dampier Jr. averaged 12.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
