John Healey resigned as Defence Secretary. GB News reported the departure on June 11, 2026. Richard Tice, Deputy Leader of Reform UK, told GB News that the move removed the prime minister's credibility on defense.
"In a sense, all his credibility is gone," Tice said. Tice linked the resignation directly to earlier statements by Starmer on increasing defense spending. "When he's been saying to people, we've got to spend more on defense, and this is the point," he said.
Tice also questioned who now holds authority inside the government. "The word unable means he's not in control. Who is in control? Is it the backbenchers? Is it Wes Streeting? " he said.
