nypost.comJon Stewart appeared as a guest on Stephen Colbert's final week hosting The Late Show and presented his former colleague with a recliner and a surprise performance by singer Andra Day. The two comedians worked together on The Daily Show in the late 1990s. Stewart joked that one of them had not aged as well as the other and referenced age-defying peptides during the conversation.
Stewart presented the recliner as a going-away gift.
He then brought out Andra Day, who blew kisses to Colbert before singing her 2015 hit "Rise Up." Colbert appeared stunned by the surprise. The performance marked one of the final segments of the interview.
Stewart recalled being fired from The Jon Stewart Show in the mid-1990s. He said the show spiraled out of control in its final weeks because he was not a mature grown-up like Colbert. Stewart also praised the staff of The Late Show for being game for any sketch idea he pitched, including one involving alpacas.
Colbert also welcomed director Steven Spielberg, who was promoting his new film Disclosure Day, which hits theaters June 12.
