Jonathan Taylor Logs 323 Rushes in 2025 Season for Colts

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor carried the ball 323 times during the 2025 NFL season, the league high, according to ESPN. The total came after Taylor already had 26 rushes in a November game against the Atlanta Falcons before adding six more carries on the game-winning overtime drive.

Taylor scored the decisive touchdown on an 8-yard run with 3:36 left in overtime, finishing that contest with 32 carries and 244 rushing yards.

Coach Shane Steichen said after the game that Taylor "was rolling" and that the staff could feel it on the sideline. Over the prior two seasons Taylor rushed for 1,431 and 1,585 yards. Since entering the league in 2020 he has posted three seasons of at least 300 carries, a mark matched by only one other back, Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens, who has four such seasons.

Taylor, 27, is entering the final year of a three-year contract. He missed his first game due to injury in his third NFL season and recorded his first missed practice after contracting COVID-19 in 2020. At Wisconsin he averaged 309 carries per season over three years.

Steichen said the team is aware of the workload as it prepares for 2026. "Obviously, he's a hell of a player," Steichen said. " ESPN reported that Taylor has maintained a rigorous offseason training regimen to handle the physical demands of the position.
