"Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning," the board said in the statement. The network added that its ministry will continue and that Lamb had ensured an executive leadership team was in place.
Lamb and her first husband, Marcus Lamb, who died in 2021, began broadcasting in the Dallas area with a single station in 1993. Five years later she began hosting her signature daily women’s show. Based in Bedford, Texas, the network grew to broadcast in more than 200 countries.
Daystar says it reaches 2.3 billion homes worldwide through cable carriers and satellite systems. It has aired shows from well-known evangelists and is rooted in Pentecostalism, a Christian tradition known for spirit-filled worship and belief in modern-day miracles.
In addition to serving as president and working behind the scenes, Lamb hosted “Joni Table Talk,” a daily program focused on conversations about faith and current events. The show was syndicated on A+E TV, ABC, CBS, NBC and other networks. She also co-hosted “Ministry Now” with family members.
In 2010, Lamb stood beside her husband when he admitted on television to an affair with a woman years earlier. Marcus Lamb also alleged that three people tried to extort money from him. At the time, Joni Lamb said she was devastated when she learned of the infidelity but prayed and felt guided to fight for the marriage.
