Jordan Henderson Has Wrist Surgery After England Win but Returns to Training Camp
The midfielder had surgery on a severe left wrist fracture sustained while celebrating England's 3-2 win over Mexico. He was ruled out for the rest of the tournament but returned to the team camp in Kansas City on July 8.

Jordan Henderson underwent surgery on a severe left wrist fracture at the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute after injuring himself during post-match celebrations. com reported that Henderson slipped and landed awkwardly while climbing an advertising board following England's 3-2 victory over Mexico at Azteca Stadium on July 5.
He was taken off the field on a stretcher, given oxygen and transported to a hospital in Mexico City.
England manager Thomas Tuchel said after the match that the injury was quite serious. Henderson did not appear in the round-of-16 match. In an Instagram post, Henderson wrote: “Surgery done! ” He thanked the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute staff and the three doctors who performed the operation.
Henderson was ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 World Cup. He had become the first English player to appear in four World Cups earlier in the tournament. England will face Norway in the quarterfinals at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Saturday.
Henderson returned to the team's training camp in Kansas City on July 8.
