The Jordanian Armed Forces carried out strikes on several arms and drug trafficking sites along the Jordan-Syria border early Sunday morning, according to an army statement. The targeted locations included factories, workshops, and warehouses used to store and organize smuggling attempts into Jordan.

The operation was conducted with precision and intelligence to prevent trafficked drugs and weapons from reaching Jordan, the armed forces stated.

The armed forces noted a significant increase in smuggling attempts across the Jordan-Syria border. Smugglers have adopted new patterns of activity, taking advantage of weather conditions and regional circumstances to carry out operations, according to the statement. The rise in these attempts poses a major challenge to Jordanian border officers, the armed forces added.

The Jordanian Armed Forces stated they will continue to address threats to the kingdom's security and sovereignty proactively and decisively. They affirmed dedication of capabilities and resources to confront such threats with full force and determination.

In a separate development last week, Israeli prosecutors filed indictments against three southern residents in the Beersheba District Court. The individuals are accused of using drones to export large quantities of hashish to Jordan and import Glock pistols into Israel.

The alleged operation occurred from November 2025 through January 2026 near the Dead Sea Works area, close to the Israel-Jordan border.

According to the indictments, the defendants arrived at hilltops near the border with drones and packages of hashish weighing several kilograms each. They flew the drones into Jordan and later received them back loaded with pistols. In total, prosecutors allege the export of about 120 kilograms of hashish to Jordan and the import of about 44-48 Glock pistols into Israel, depending on the count of the final January shipment.
