JPMorgan Chase filed a court response rejecting allegations made by former employee Chirayu Rana. The bank called the claims false and said it plans to pursue its own claims against him.
New York PostJPMorgan Chase filed a 68-page response in Manhattan Supreme Court late Thursday rejecting claims made by former banker Chirayu Rana. The bank called the allegations against executive Lorna Hajdini false and malicious. Rana, previously identified only as John Doe, filed suit last month accusing Hajdini of sexual coercion and racial degradation.
He said she threatened to cut his bonus unless he agreed to become her sex slave and that management ignored his complaints. The bank disputed Rana’s description of his performance and responsibilities. It denied that he closed more deals than anyone else on the leveraged finance team or that his work was presented directly to CEO Jamie Dimon.
Background on the Lawsuit Rana joined JPMorgan in March 2024.
Hajdini joined the same team the following month. The two attended a dinner at a private social club and a concert at Barclays Center with colleagues. Rana left his subsequent job at Bregal Sagemount on April 2. He filed the lawsuit shortly afterward.
JPMorgan said Rana resigned voluntarily. The bank disputed his claim that he was placed on involuntary administrative leave after filing a discrimination complaint in May 2025.
The bank stated that Rana told supervisors he needed time off because his father was ill. It noted that an earlier New York Post report showed his father was alive. ” JPMorgan said it could neither confirm nor deny reports of anonymous racial threats against Rana but denied any connection to the bank or its employees.
Hajdini filed a countersuit on Tuesday. Her lawyers submitted exhibits showing death threats and abusive emails she received after the original lawsuit became public. A JPMorgan spokesperson said the firm has no intention of settling and maintains that the allegations are without merit.
