Judge to Decide Monday Whether Lions Cornerback Terrion Arnold Stays in Custody on Kidnapping and Robbery Charges

A hearing will be held Monday morning in Tampa to determine whether Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold remains in custody pending trial on eight felony counts. Arnold, 23, faces four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. The charges carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison if convicted.

Court filings show he has retained Denver attorney Harvey Steinberg. Arnold appeared briefly by video at a Thursday hearing in Hillsborough County court. A judge announced the charges, which also include conspiracy, and ordered him held without bail until the Monday proceeding.
Prosecutors said they will argue at that hearing that Arnold should stay in custody until trial. Arnold turned himself in Wednesday night. Authorities accuse him of leading a plot in which three men in their late teens were held at gunpoint, battered, pistol-whipped and robbed inside a Tampa apartment on Feb.
4. Investigators said the victims had no connection to a Feb. 1 theft of more than $250,000 in property from an Airbnb rental in Largo, about 20 miles west of Tampa, that involved Arnold and others. Police described Arnold as the primary conspirator.
At least seven people have been charged in the case. Two co-defendants pleaded guilty Wednesday and are cooperating with prosecutors. One was sentenced to four years in prison for kidnapping, conspiracy and robbery with a gun, court records show.
Defense attorney R. " Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, which represents Arnold, said there is "no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations" and that the government is relying on testimony from convicted felons who may have incentives to shift blame.
