Before Operation Iron Pursuit, ongoing investigations into child sex abuse operated on a case-by-case basis within individual FBI offices and U.S. Attorneys' districts. The new state establishes a model for synchronized, nationwide takedowns, with arrests made between April and May 2026, and prosecutions now advancing in federal courts nationwide.

Charges under statutes such as 18 U.S.C. § 2251 for production of child pornography and 18 U.S.C. § 2423 for transportation of minors for illicit purposes take effect immediately upon indictment, per standard federal procedures.

Arrested offenders now enter the federal court system, triggering arraignments and pretrial detentions in their respective districts, with U.S. Attorneys required to file formal charges within 30 days per Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. Located victims gain access to services under the Victims of Child Abuse Act, including medical evaluations and counseling funded through the Department of Justice's Office for Victims of Crime, which allocates over $2.5 billion annually for such programs.

The operation activates interagency protocols, compelling state child welfare agencies to coordinate with federal authorities on victim placements and ongoing investigations.
