ForbesK-pop group Billlie released its first full studio album, 'the collective soul and unconscious: chapter two,' earlier this month. The album follows five EPs issued since the group's 2021 debut. It continues the narrative of the 2022 EP 'the collective soul and unconscious: chapter one,' shifting focus from entering the subconscious to growth within it.
The seven members—Moon Sua, Suhyeon, Haram, Tsuki, Sheon, Siyoon, and Haruna—described the project as an opportunity to present new sides of the group. Suhyeon said the album helped make the group's identity more concrete and allowed members to explore additional colors and individuality.
Haruna stated the group prepared diligently and expressed confidence in the final product.
The album contains twelve tracks, five of which are remixes. Members collaborated with producers Jake K and Andreas Öberg and songwriter Maria Marcus. ' The trailer 'Raw Projection To Unified Core' depicts members in white dresses fighting in mud to represent the search for inner selves.
Moon Sua said the group had not released a full album since October 2024 and viewed the project as the start of a new chapter. She noted that a prior unit song with Siyoon revealed new onstage identities. Siyoon described the filming process for the trailer as enjoyable yet serious, emphasizing that the soiled dresses symbolize parts of the self that remain authentic.
The album features multiple genres, including pop, hip-hop, ballroom, house, R&B, EDM, and hyper-pop. Moon Sua said performing voguing and house styles in 'WORK' was exciting and expanded the group's musical range. Sheon expressed interest in more acoustic and R&B sounds, while Haram said she would like to try EDM or techno in the future.
Tsuki said the group focused on stronger hair and makeup to match the album's powerful performance energy. The members stated they are enjoying performing the choreography for 'WORK' on stage.
