Karolina Muchova will miss several weeks of competition after undergoing a small surgery, The Bbc reported. The 29-year-old Czech player said the procedure went well and that she has already begun recovery work. Muchova confirmed she will skip the Canadian Open in Toronto, which begins on 1 August.
She had looked forward to making her debut at the event but placed recovery ahead of participation. The US Open starts on 23 August. The Bbc reported that Muchova lost to compatriot Linda Noskova in a three-set final at Wimbledon earlier this month.
She is ranked sixth in the world and previously reached the 2023 French Open final, where she lost to Iga Swiatek. Muchova has managed multiple wrist injuries over the course of her career. "I had to undergo a small surgery that will keep me off the court for a few weeks," Muchova said.
"Everything went well, and I'm already working on my recovery. Sad to be missing Toronto this year.
