Kate Hudson Describes Matthew McConaughey as Unique and Spontaneous at Time100 Panel

Kate Hudson described Matthew McConaughey as the most unique, wonderful, spontaneous, unpredictable man she has ever worked with during her Time100 panel on Wednesday at Lincoln Center in New York City. She gushed that he is competitive in the best ways, so much fun to laugh with, down for anything, and that she loves how unpredictable he is.

Hudson explained that she relates to that side of him because she is always down too, according to the New York Post.

Hudson continued by noting that McConaughey is really protective, a great father, a beautiful partner and a family man. She said he cares deeply about his work but mostly about the human condition and finding inner peace or at least contentment, adding that they connect on that very much. Hudson concluded that McConaughey is a really unique, special person, the New York Post reported.

The pair famously played love interests in the 2003 romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Hudson suggested that McConaughey be cast as Benjamin Barry after she landed the role of Andie Anderson in the film. They went on to co-star in the 2008 romantic comedy Fool’s Gold.

In 2024, Hudson revealed during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live that neither she nor McConaughey wore deodorant on the set of Fool’s Gold. She confirmed that he has a distinct scent and that she could smell him from a mile away. Fool’s Gold was filmed in Australia during the southern hemisphere’s summer.

McConaughey is an Oscar winner. Hudson starred in the film Almost Famous.
