Kate Middleton met Claire Lorente at The Christie cancer center in Manchester, England, on Thursday. The 30-year-old patient was completing her breast cancer treatment that day. Middleton, who revealed her own cancer diagnosis in March 2024 and announced she was in remission in January 2025, warmly embraced Lorente and congratulated her.
She kept a reassuring hand on Lorente’s arm during the conversation. ” Middleton said. She asked Lorente how long she had been undergoing treatment. Lorente explained she had been receiving treatment for nearly six months and still had surgery ahead.
Middleton replied that the day was an “amazing day” after a “tough” journey. ” She added, “I know how hard it was for the children and my parents. ” As Lorente prepared to ring the ceremonial bell marking the end of treatment, Middleton stepped back.
“This is your day,” Middleton told Lorente. She smiled and applauded as Lorente rang the bell. Middleton visited The Christie to learn more about the center’s free support services for cancer patients and their families.
The services address the emotional and physical challenges of treatment. Earlier this week, Middleton joined King Charles III and other members of the royal family at a reception celebrating the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research UK. Charles, 77, continues to undergo treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
