The 39-year-old Irish boxer will contest the vacant WBC super lightweight title against unbeaten French fighter Flora Pili in what is billed as her final professional bout.
The IndependentKatie Taylor will face Flora Pili at Croke Park in Dublin on September 5 for the vacant WBC super lightweight title in the final fight of her career. The 39-year-old Irish boxer has not competed since retaining her undisputed title against Amanda Serrano in New York last July. The 82,000-capacity venue was confirmed on Friday.
Taylor had announced in February that she intended to conclude her career on home soil. Taylor currently holds the IBF, WBA and WBO super lightweight titles. Pili, 29, is the IBO champion, mandatory challenger for the IBF belt and top-ranked contender for the WBC crown.
The WBC title became vacant after holder Sandy Ryan stepped away from the sport because she is pregnant. Taylor had vacated the same belt in 2025 during an extended break from boxing. Taylor enters the bout with a 25-1 professional record.
Pili remains unbeaten as a professional. “I can’t thank the people of this country enough for the support I have received over the years. This seems like the perfect way to end it,” Taylor said in a press statement at Croke Park.
“People have travelled all around the world to follow my career and I’m hoping I can repay some of that with a big performance on September 5,” she added. “I’m under no illusions that Flora will present a very tough challenge. She’s undefeated as a professional and I have the utmost respect for her,” Taylor said.
“I’ve been blessed to achieve more than I ever dreamed. I hope (it) will inspire a whole new generation. That would be the greatest legacy I could leave,” she said. Taylor won Olympic gold at London 2012.
