Kenneth Griffin Donates $26 Million to Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, Securing West Wing Naming Rights
The donation will name the west wing of the carbon-neutral library scheduled to open July 4, 2026, in Medora, North Dakota. Griffin, founder of Citadel, has also acquired both surviving privately held first printings of the U.S. Constitution.

Kenneth C. Griffin donated $26 million to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, Fortune reported. The gift, announced Thursday, will name the library’s west wing after the Citadel founder and chief executive.
The library is scheduled to open July 4, 2026, in Medora, North Dakota, on the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. Designed by Snøhetta, it will be the nation’s only carbon-neutral presidential library.
Griffin owns both surviving privately held first printings of the 1787 Constitution. He paid $43.2 million for one at a Sotheby’s auction in November 2021 and acquired the Van Sinderen copy in spring 2026. He has loaned one copy to the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia along with a $15 million gift, the largest single donation in that institution’s history, and loaned the second to the South Street Seaport Museum in New York.
Fortune reported that Griffin has given an estimated $2 billion to charitable causes. His gifts include funding for the Lincoln Memorial restoration, the largest donation in Navy SEAL Foundation history, the largest private gift to the Call of Duty Endowment, and $30 million to the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation.
Through Griffin Catalyst he supported a dramatic presentation of American WWII history in New York and Miami.
