Kenya Fuel Price Protests Turn Deadly in Kiambu and Nakuru

At least two people were killed in Kiambu and Nakuru during protests over record fuel price hikes in Kenya. The demonstrations erupted on Monday after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority raised pump prices to new highs. Transport operators launched a nationwide matatu strike that paralyzed movement in Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, and Mombasa.

Protesters barricaded roads, lit bonfires, and clashed with officers who used tear gas to disperse crowds. Several demonstrators were arrested amid reports of vandalism and looting of businesses. Transport operations remained halted as operators protested the sharp rise in diesel and petrol costs.
