Kenya Revenue Authority Says June 30 Tax Deadline Will Not Be Extended

The Kenya Revenue Authority has ruled out any extension of the June 30 deadline for filing 2025 income tax returns. Officials said taxpayers who fail to submit returns by midnight on Tuesday will face penalties under the law and could receive default tax assessments.

The authority noted that millions of taxpayers have already filed their returns. It urged those who have not yet complied to file before the final hours to avoid heavy traffic on digital platforms that could delay submissions.

To assist last-minute filers, the authority has extended operating hours at its contact centre, service centres, Huduma Centres and Ushuru Mashinani service points. Taxpayers can file through the iTax platform, eCitizen and the USSD service, with assistance available via the contact centre and social media channels.

Filing annual income tax returns remains a legal requirement for all taxpayers with income tax obligations, including those required to submit nil returns.
